The Resident Evil franchise is heading back to the big screen. Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City has been touted as a return to form for the series’ live-action offerings. Directed by Johannes Roberts (47 Meters Down, The Strangers: Prey at Night), it combines the first two games in the franchise to tell the story of the Redfield siblings. STARS agent Chris investigates an unusual event at the Spencer Mansion, while his sister Claire discovers something sinister about the powerful Umbrella Corporation.

Whether you are a franchise newbie or want to know the familiar faces appearing in the film, we’ve got you covered. Here’s your guide to who’s playing who in Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City. No worries – we won’t spoil any of the games here.

Chris Redfield (Robbie Amell)

After a tumultuous childhood separated from his sister, Chris has grown up to be a member of Raccoon City Police’s STARS (Special Tactics and Rescue Service) unit. He and his team are then dispatched to investigate a strange event happening at the Spencer Mansion. You may have seen Robbie Amell in The Babysitter, The Flash, and The X-Files.

Claire Redfield (Kaya Scodelario)

As Chris is investigating the mysterious mansion, his sister Claire is setting her sights on the Umbrella Corporation. During her investigations into Raccoon City’s water, she finds herself in the middle of a dangerous and horrifying conspiracy. Kaya Scodelario is perhaps most well-known for Skins, The Maze Runner, and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.

Jill Valentine (Hannah John-Kamen)

Jill is one of STARS’ star agents, highly capable and prepared for seemingly anything in her path. However, nothing can prepare her for the horrors waiting for her and the rest of the team waiting for them at the Spencer Mansion. Hannah John-Kamen has been an actor to watch in recent years, having been in Killjoys, Ant-Man and the Wasp, and The Stranger.

Leon S. Kennedy (Avan Jogia)

Naive and maybe a little dim, Leon is a rookie cop left to watch over the RPD offices. His seemingly boring shift becomes a lot more interesting when he encounters Claire, who says that the Umbrella Corporation might be more nefarious than anyone thought. Avan Jogia might be best well known for Victorious, but he’s also had far more adult-oriented roles in Now Apocalypse and Zombieland: Double Tap.

Albert Wesker (Tom Hopper)

On the surface, Albert seems like a regular and reliable agent. As the commanding officer of the STARS unit, he leads his team to figure out what’s happening at a seemingly abandoned mansion. However, he and the rest of his team will realize that everyone has their secrets, some far more dangerous than others. Tom Hopper has quite the nerdy media resume, being most recognizable from Merlin, The Umbrella Academy, and Terminator: Dark Fate.

William Birkin (Neal McDonough)

One of the top scientists at Umbrella, his work on the G-virus is nearly ruined when his company’s Special Forces attack him. The bad news is that the attack caused his work to seep into Raccoon City’s water supply. The good news, at least for him, is that he’s developing abnormally superhuman abilities. There’s little chance that you haven’t seen Neal McDonough in one of your favorite television shows, such as Justified, Agent Carter, and Suits.

Annette Birkin (Janet Porter)

Annette works at Umbrella along with her husband, William. Despite her attempts to contain the now-leaked G-virus from contaminating Raccoon City, her efforts end up being just as futile as you can imagine. Janet Birkin was featured briefly in both IT films playing both Stanley and Richie’s mother, and can frequently be seen in Anne With An E and The Hardy Boys.

Sherry Birkin (Holly De Barros)

The daughter of William and Annette, Sherry finds herself all alone amidst the chaos happening in Raccoon City. She finds temporary solace when encountering Claire and Leon, although that might not last too long. Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City is Holly De Barros’ first film, having only been in two episodes of Good Witch before. Talk about a drastic career shift!

Chief Brian Irons (Donal Logue)

Chief Irons helps to manage what remains of the stripped-down RPD. After hearing of strange happenings going down at the old Spencer Mansion, he dispatches his STARS team to take care of the problem. Despite his unassuming demeanor, he might know a lot more than he lets on. Donal Logue has been a welcome face in many movies and television shows, including Blade, Sons of Anarchy, and Gotham.

Richard Aiken (Chad Rook)

As the radio communications specialist for STARS, Richard is dispatched with the rest of his team to figure out what’s going on over at the Spencer Mansion. Even if the situation doesn’t seem too bad initially, he might just find something that he will eventually regret finding. Chad Rook might be a recognizable face from War for the Planet of the Apes, Virgin River, and Siren.

Lisa Trevor (Marina Mazepa)

The daughter of an influential architect, Lisa was abducted when she was younger and used by the Umbrella Corporation for several years for bioweapon experimentation. Eventually, she escaped the Arklay Laboratory and returned to the Spencer Mansion. Needless to say, she’s developed dangerous powers due to her exposure to numerous Umbrella viruses. If you saw Malignant (and if not, why do you hate fun?), you can thank Marina Mazepa for some of Gabriel’s twisty movements.

There is one more essential character that Resident Evil fans should be excited to see, but we’ll leave that for you to discover. Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City is now playing in theaters.
