Universal has released another Ride Along 2 trailer online. The sequel reunites Ice Cube and Kevin Hart as partners and brothers-in-laws-to-be who take a road trip from Atlanta to Miami to take down a drug dealer who’s been funneling product into their hometown.
While the previous trailer looked like it was made up mostly of footage from the first movie, this trailer doubles down on how much affection audiences have for Hart. Apparently, the studio believes they can get a lot of mileage by tossing him around like a rag doll, and I believe they’re right. The last movie made over $150 million worldwide, and no offense to Cube, but it helps when he’s playing straight-man against a diminutive fellow who has a high-pitched voice.
Check out the new Ride Along 2 trailer below along with some new images. The film opens January 15, 2016, and also stars Ken Jeong, Olivia Munn, Tika Sumpter, Benjamin Bratt, and Sherri Shepherd.
Here’s the official synopsis:
Kevin Hart and Ice Cube lead the returning lineup of Ride Along 2, the sequel to the blockbuster action-comedy that gave us the year’s most popular comedy duo. Joining Hart and Cube for the next chapter of the series are director Tim Story, as well as Cube’s fellow producers—Will Packer, Matt Alvarez and Larry Brezner—who will produce alongside Cube.
