20the Century Fox has released the full theatrical trailer for the animated sequel Rio 2.  Directed by Carlos Saldanha, the follow-up finds Blu (Jesse Eisenberg), Jewel (Anne Hathaway), and their three kids leaving a domesticated life in the city for a journey into the Amazon, where they encounter a number of colorful characters including Anne’s father (Andy Garcia).  The film looks to put a spin on the “meet the parents” premise, but having not seen the first pic I can’t really judge how this appears to stack up to the original.  Regardless, the final gag in this trailer is pretty good.

The entire cast of the animated smash RIO returns in RIO 2, and they are joined by a new flock of top actors and musical talents. Rich with grandeur, character, color and music, RIO 2 finds Jewel (Anne Hathaway), Blu (Jesse Eisenberg) and their three kids leaving their domesticated life in that magical city for a journey to the Amazon. They encounter a menagerie of characters who are born to be wild, voiced by Oscar nominee Andy Garcia, Oscar/Emmy/Tony-winner Rita Moreno, Grammy winner Bruno Mars, and Tony winner Kristin Chenoweth.
