At long last, we're just around the corner from a return to the Star Wars universe with Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. There's only two weeks to go until Lucasfilm's first standalone Star Wars feature lands in theaters, but if you just can't wait any longer, today brings a new clip, a 30-minute Facebook Live cast Q&A, and a behind-the-scenes featurette showing off Felicity Jones' badass space rebel in action on the set of the the sci-fi epic.
For the Facebook Q&A, Jones joined director Garreth Edwards and fellow castmates Riz Ahmed, Alan Tudyk, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, and Donnie Yen for a half-hour chat hosted by Leo Olebe, Facebook’s Director of Global Gaming Partnerships. Answering fan questions, and obviously avoiding spoilers like the plague, the cast talked about what it was like to see Darth Vader on set, how they would describe their characters in three words, and a whole bunch more. You're not going to hear anything revelatory but the cast is charming and it's worth the watch for Mendelsohn's delightful eccentricity alone. However, if you're not into the Q&A, you can skip ahead to the end for the featurette.
As the new clip, only the second we've seen so far, we get a glimpse at the team dynamic. Which is a little short on trust. We also get a proper introduction to Tudyk's cheeky droid, and while he's not BB-8 levels of adorbs, I willing to bet he becomes quite the fan favorite. Check it out for yourself below. (Note: this debuted on late night, so don't be thrown off by the laughter at the beginning.)
Rogue One also stars Mads Mikkelsen, Jiang Wen, and Forest Whitaker and arrives in theaters nationwide on December 16th.
