Ron Perlman Joins Nicolas Winding Refn’s DRIVE; Malin Akerman Signs on to David Wain’s WANDERLUST

     September 15, 2010

We have two quick pieces of casting news for you this morning.  First up, Ron Perlman has joined the stellar cast of Nicolas Winding Refn’s Drive. Based on James Sallis crime novel of the same name, the story centers on a Hollywood stuntman (played by Ryan Gosling) who also works as a getaway driver.  The film also stars Carey Mulligan, Bryan Cranston, Oscar Isaac, Christina Hendricks, and Albert Brooks.  Production is scheduled to begin this fall.

Unfortunately, Screen Daily’s article doesn’t have any details on what role Perlman will play.  Perlman is also playing Conan’s papa Corin in Conan.  He can currently be seen in the new season of FX’s Sons of Anarchy and co-starring in the drama Bunraku, which is playing at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival.

Hit the jump for news regarding Malin Akerman joining David Wain’s Wanderlust.

Variety reports that Malin Akerman will join Jennifer Aniston, Paul Rudd, and Paul Theroux in Wanderlust.  Directed by David Wain (Role Models), the plot “centers on a married couple (Aniston, Rudd) who try escaping modern society by moving from New York.”  I’m sure they’re successful because modern society doesn’t exist outside of New York.  Our earlier report said that the couple loses all their money and begins life on a commune.  That sounds like a more interesting movie than “leaving New York to find pre-modern society.”

Akerman recently signed on to star opposite Ethan Hawke in the spy-thriller The Numbers Station and she’s also co-starring in the indie crime dramas Catch .44 and Criminal Empire for Dummys.
