Three-time BAFTA Award nominee and beloved director, actor, and author Rupert Everett (My Best Friend’s Wedding, The Happy Prince) is bringing a new screenplay to life with the upcoming film, Lost and Found in Paris. The story is to be based on Everett’s real-life experiences and will be the second film that he will serve as both writer and director for following The Happy Prince. Starring in the film will be Kit Clarke (Get Even, Leonardo) as a younger version of Everett, as well as two-time Academy Award nominee John Malkovich (Being John Malkovich) and BAFTA winner Kristin Scott Thomas (The English Patient). Everett will also be joining the cast in a supporting role for the film.

The movie, which has planned to begin production in Spring of 2022, will center around a young, seventeen-year-old art student named Rupert (Clarke), who is living and studying in 1977 Paris. Naïve and a bit awkward, Rupert will be sucked into the self-indulgent lives of rival fashion designers, Gary Saint Lazare (Everett) and Wim Waldemar (Malkovich) at the end of the disco era. The curious young man will discover new sexual experiences and the first taste of love and heartbreak. The banner of childhood and youth begins to drop for him as he starts to see people for who they really are and realize that not everyone will stay loyal to him.

Of his upcoming film, Everett said,

“Lost and Found in Paris is a film about the rollercoaster of life, the exuberance and glamour of youth, seen through the lens of a life well lived. I went to Paris on an exchange trip in 1977. I was supposed to learn French. Instead, I discovered fashion, disco, drugs, rent boys and finally - right at the edge of the abyss - myself.”

Lost and Found in Paris is produced by Jeremy Thomas at Recorded Picture Company (Pinocchio, Sexy Beast, The Dreamers). "I've known Rupert since his incredible screen debut in Another Country, and his multifaceted talents and personal story makes Lost and Found in Paris an unusual blend of comedy with true-life adventure," Thomas said.

On top of an intriguing storyline and great acting, the film promises to have all the top hits from the world’s favorite disco and punk artists of the time. We can’t wait to hear this loaded soundtrack backing up what sounds to be a very fun coming-of-age tale. No release date has been announced for Lost and Found in Paris, so stay tuned to Collider for more on this project.
