Russell Crowe Rides a Jeep In Ridley Scott’s ROBIN HOOD

     June 16, 2009

Just Jared has just nabbed some unofficial set photos from Ridley Scott’s “Robin Hood” and I think it’s taking a far more radical turn than we anticipated.  Sure, all the accouterments are present: chain mail, royal crest, cloak, but what are stars Russell Crowe (playing Mr. Hood) and Scott Grimes (as Will Scarlett) doing rolling around in a Jeep?  Clearly, the attention to historical accuracy has becomes somewhat muddled.

Actually, I wish the Jeep WERE in the movie because then it would be something different and unexpected and instead, it looks more and more like we’re just getting generic “Robin Hood” that will be, at best, nothing more than “Prince of Thieves” meets “Kingdom of Heaven: Theatrical Cut”.  I’m still waiting to see or hear something about this film that’s unique and don’t throw “A hero who steals from the rich and gives to the poor is timely!” at me because it’s not only bullshit (escapism has a tendency to not work if you’re constantly reminded of what SHOULD be happening outside the theatre), but it’s simplistic and boring.  Give me something to cheer for, Mr. Scott.  I will cheer for a Jeep at this point.

Check out a few more photos after the jump and click here to see the rest.
