Russell Crowe Selects THE WATER DIVINER for Directorial Debut

     June 18, 2013

Though he currently appears on screen in Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel, Russell Crowe will soon be going behind the camera for his directorial debut.  Over the years, Crowe has considered a number of Australian stories for his first time at the helm, including The Long Green Shore and Bra Boys.  It looks like The Water Diviner, scripted by Andrew Knight and Andrew Anastasios, will be the lucky film.  Set in 1919, the picture centers on an Australian father traveling to Turkey in order to find his two sons, who have gone missing after the battle of Gallipoli.  Deadline also reports that The Water Diviner is expected to shoot in Australia and Turkey later this year with Crowe set to direct and star.  Crowe will next be seen in Akiva Goldsman’s Winter’s Tale and in the title role of Darren Aronofsky’s Noah.
