It was a big night for Netflix at the SAG Awards. Not only did Orange is the New Black trump The Big Bang Theory, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Modern Family and Veep in the Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series category, but Uzo Aduba (Suzanne “Crazy Eyes” Warren) also beat out Julie Bowen, Edie Falco, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Amy Peohler for the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series title.
William H. Macy also pulled off a surprise win taking down Ty Burrell, Louis C.K., Jim Parsons and Eric Stonestreet for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series for his work in Shameless. Sadly Orphan Black’s Tatiana Maslany lost the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series honor to How to Get Away with Murder’s Viola Davis, but being in consideration for a Star Wars spinoff film is a solid consolation prize.
