I don't know much about the fashion world, but I do know that I like watching decadence onscreen so I was pleasantly surprise that this trailer for Saint Laurent turned out to be for a stylish, swaggering narrative (rather than the documentary I was expecting it to be for some reason). One of two films made about Yves Saint Laurent in less than a year (the other one being director Jalil Lespert’s Yves Saint Laurent), this is the unauthorized and unsanitized one. Which means it has snakes, booze, sex, drugs, attempted murder, general madness... more than I was expecting!

Check out the Saint Laurent trailer below. The film was directed by Bertand Bonello and stars Gaspard Ulliel, Jérémie Renier, Louis Garrel, and Lea Seydoux. It opens in New York and Los Angeles on May 8th.

Here's the (amazingly brief) official synopsis for Saint Laurent:

1967-1976 As one of history’s greatest fashion designers entered a decade of freedom, neither came out of it in one piece.
