One the main foci of former Daily Show correspondent Samantha Bee’s upcoming late night show has been the fact that she’s a woman. It’s inevitable, since she is the only woman currently in the late show landscape, and she’s had some fun with that along the way (one TBS promo called her “female as fuck”). In a similar vein, her latest promo — which reveals the title of her new show, Full Frontal — also reveals something irreverent, which is a very un-ladylike part of her anatomy. Those are some impressive cojones, Bee. The series will debut in January, and will join another series on TBS that Bee is the executive producer of, The Detours. That comedy will star her husband (and fellow ex-Daily Show staffer) Jason Jones, along with Natalie Zea, and is based loosely on their own family’s comic travel foibles.
So will you be tuning in to Bee’s new series? I’m interested to see her take just as a late night series, but besides her being a correspondent on The Daily Show, I don’t have a strong sense of what she’s like as the anchor of a show or a commentator (beyond her TDS personality). I suppose we’ll find out in January (and by the way, a time has not yet been set for the series premiere yet, though it’s still early days).
