Warner Bros.’ big screen adaptation of Tarzan is back on in a big way.  Though the project was initially planned as Harry Potter director David Yates’ follow-up to Deathly Hallows – Part 2, the studio put the brakes on the film due to budget concerns earlier this year.  Apparently all parties came to an agreement, as movement picked up again a few months ago with Christoph Waltz entering talks to star as the villain opposite Alexander Skarsgard, who will play the titular Tarzan.  Now Variety reports that Samuel L. Jackson is in talks to co-star with Skarsgard and adds that Waltz’s deal has closed.

Jackson was first linked to Tarzan over a year ago, when he was being eyed for the role of a Civil War veteran eager to redeem himself for his part in the massacre of Native Americans.  No word if that’s still the role Jackson will be playing, but Variety also notes that The Wolf of Wall Street star Margot Robbie is now the top choice to play Jane.  With the project heating up, expect to hear more casting news soon.
