Yesterday, we reported that Emma Roberts (Hotel for Dogs) had been cast as the lead in Wes Craven's Scream 4.  Last week, we also reported that Hayden Panettiere (Heroes) Lake Bell (It’s Complicated), and Rory Culkin (Mean Creek) were in talks to join the cast.  Today, Variety reports that Panettiere and Culkin have officially come on board.  As we previously reported, Panettiere would be playing Roberts' nerdy best friend and Culkin would be playing Roberts' love interest.

Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox, and David Arquette are all returning with Craven working from a script by original writer Kevin Williamson.  Hit the jump for more details on the project along with the official poster.  Scream 4 is slated to hit theaters on April 15, 2011.

Not much is known about the film other than it will "be seen as a passing of the baton to a new generation of slasher victims."  So reach out and grab the murder-baton, kids.  I doubt this sequel will be able to eclipse the first as it most likely won't feature Skeet Ulrich repeatedly introducing a knife to his internal organs.

Panettiere most recently appeared as the title character in I Love You, Beth Cooper and will next be seen in the drama Carmel and you can also hear her voice in the upcoming animated films Hoodwinked Too! Hood vs. Evil and Alpha and Omega.  As for Culkin, he'll be reuniting with Roberts as the two previously co-starred in 2008's Lymelife.  Culkin can next be seen in Joel Schmacher's Twelve, which premiered at this year's Sundance Film Festival.
