The first Scream TV series trailers premiered tonight during the MTV Movie Awards, and if you’re wondering how you do Scream as a TV series, you’ll probably still be wondering after watching these trailers.
Per THR, the new series “kicks off after a cyberbullying incident results in a brutal murder, with the shocking violence stirring up memories of a killing spree from the past that has haunted some, intrigued others and maybe just inspired a new killer. It centers on a group of new teens — with two old friends struggling to reconnect at its heart — who become lovers, enemies, suspects, targets and victims of a killer who's out for blood.”
You can see the traces of Scream in the trailers with the meta-commentary, horror tropes, and mocking communication, although a text will never be as threatening as a phone call. That being said, I would love it if the killer broke out “¯\_(ツ)_/¯”.
