LOS ANGELES, CA, July 21, 2011 – Open Road Films has partnered with Liddell Entertainment for the U.S. release of SILENT HOUSE.  The announcement was made today by Tom Ortenberg, CEO of Open Road Films and Mickey Liddell, CEO of Liddell Entertainment.

Directed by fillmmaking duo Chris Kentis and Laura Lau (Open Water), Silent House is an enthralling and unsettling horror thriller starring Elizabeth Olsen as Laura, a young woman whose panic grows into terror as she finds herself sealed inside her family’s crumbling lake house.  With no electricity and no contact to the outside world, events throughout the house become increasingly frightening and bloody.

Ortenberg stated, “Silent House is sure to resonate with audiences and we are thrilled to partner with Liddell Entertainment to bring this film to theaters.  It’s great to reunite with Chris and Laura whose unique filmmaking talents don’t just scare people, but leave them talking about a film for days.”

This is the second deal between Open Road Films and Liddell Entertainment this month.  Open Road Films recently became the U.S. distributor of Joe Carnahan’s The Grey, the  highly-anticipated survival thriller starring Liam Neeson.

“Elizabeth Olsen gives one of the most amazing performances I’ve seen from a young actress,” stated Liddell.  “Laura Lau and Chris Kentis are such a great directing team and have brought yet another unique concept to the big screen.  With Tom’s experience and Open Road’s talented team, we think this is great partnership for this film.”

Silent House is produced by Agnes Mentre of Tazora Films. An Elle Driver presentation, executive producers are Adeline Fontan Tessaur, Eva Diederix and George Paaswel as well as Lynette Howell of Silverwood Films. Co-producer is Meir Gal.  The screenplay was written by Laura Lau and based on the Uruguayan film “La Casa Muda,” written by Oscar Estevez.

The deal was negotiated on behalf of Open Road Films by Ortenberg, General Counsel and Executive Vice President of Operations and Business Affairs, Elliott Kleinberg, and Senior Vice President of Acquisitions, Ben Cotner.  The deal was negotiated by CAA, Robert Darwell of Sheppard Mullin and Chad Reineke on behalf of Liddell Entertainment.  CAA also represents the filmmakers.
