The first Sleeping with Other People trailer has gone online, and you can already tell it’s hiding the good stuff. The premise revolves around two old friends Jake (Jason Sudeikis) and Lainey (Alison Brie) who have become sex addicts, and decide to rely on each other by keeping their relationship platonic. Their plan becomes more difficult as their affection for each other grows.

That’s the sweetness the trailer presents with only a couple hints at the raunchy, abrasive humor director Leslye Headland delivered with her first film, Bachelorette. At Sundance, she described the movie as “When Harry Met Sally with assholes,” and that’s the film I want to see, especially after checking out Adam’s positive review. I don’t mind that that the trailer is burying the dirty jokes; they’ll be even more surprising when I end up checking out the film later this year.

Check out the Sleeping with Other People trailer below. The film opens September 11th, and also stars Adam Brody, Adam Scott, Amanda Peet, Andrea Savage, Natasha Lyonne, and Jason Mantzoukas.

Here’s the official synopsis:

Years after impulsively losing their virginity to each other in college, Lainey (Alison Brie) and Jake (Jason Sudeikis) meet at a support group in New York (“What’s a nice girl like you doing at a sex addicts meeting?”). A spark resurfaces, but they’ve walked this road before. Abject failures in romance who lead lives of serial infidelity and self-sabotage, they agree to a platonic friendship to mutually support their recovery—and what’s more supportive than teaching your friend proper self-stimulation? Can love bloom while you’re sleeping with other people?
