I actually wasn't aware of Slow West until today despite the fact that we covered an earlier trailer in addition to Matt filing a positive review out of Sundance. But I'm all in for it now. I love westerns and this one seems to have such an arch, dry and comically violent tone that I likely will not be able to resist it. The film stars Michael Fassbender as an outlaw seemingly so badass he waxes like Cormac McCarthy on the regular. He's helping Kodi Smit-McPhee find his long lost love and you've also got Ben Mendelsohn being very Mendelsohnian.

Slow West was written and directed by John MacLean who appears to have emerged wholly formed as a filmmaker 20 years after getting his start as a member of The Beta Band (no joke). Check out the new Slow West trailer below. The film also stars Caren Pistorious and Rory McCannSlow West has just debuted on DirectTV and will be released in theaters and on iTunes on May 15th.

Here's the official synopsis for Slow West:

A bounty hunter (Michael Fassbender) keeps his true motive a secret from the naive Scottish teenager (Kodi Smit-McPhee) he's offered to serve as bodyguard and guide while the youth searches for his beloved in 1800s Colorado.
