While MTV posts some of the dumbest hitwhoring stories on the internet like what you favorite "Twilight" star had for breakfast, they still manage to land interviews with some of the biggest directors in Hollywood. So when they sat down with Sam Raimi earlier today, they managed to get an update on the long in development "Spider-Man 4". Even though MTV decided to break up the interview over the next week, they did manage to find out filming is set to begin the first week of March. More after the jump:

Of course with "Spider-Man 4's" release date of May 6, 2011, you knew filming had to get going pretty soon. After all, it takes about a year to get all the special effects finished, so a March start makes a lot of sense.

The other bit of news from MTV's interview is pre-production is in full swing and Sam Raimi is working with screenwriter Gary Ross right now. Raimi said, "He's working on a draft. I just gave him some notes and he's doing a rewrite right now."

As far as casting, Sam says "None of the casting has really taken place, but we're starting to think about that now."

With a script not yet completed, it's hard to do casting and move forward in other departments. After all, not having a finished script is what did in "Spider-Man 3". I'm glad they've been taking the time on the "Spider-Man 4" script, although I am a bit worried so many people have worked on drafts and it's still not in a place that everyone is happy.

MTV says they'll have more with Raimi soon and it'll include where he wants to take the Peter Parker character, which villain(s) might be showing up on the big screen, and more. I just hope they also asked what "Twilight" star would be perfect for a role in "Spider-Man", because no story is complete without a "Twilight" question.
