This past weekend, Marvel unveiled the very first footage from Spider-Man: Homecoming at Comic-Con 2016, giving fans a first look at the new reboot. The film marks an unprecedented collaboration between Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios, with Marvel taking creative lead on the redo and folding Spider-Man into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Tom Holland made his debut as the webslinger in Captain America: Civil War earlier this year to scene-stealing results, and while we’re still a year off from seeing the new Spider-Man film in all its glory, anticipation is mighty high.
Shortly after the Spider-Man: Homecoming footage was shown to the Comic-Con audience, Collider’s own Steve Weintraub got a chance to speak with Holland backstage about his experience thus far on the film and what fans can expect from the new Spider-Man movie. The The Impossible actor explained how this film shows a different side of the famous webslinger through a very grounded approach and a high school-set story, and he also discussed how heavily the film will focus on the tech involved in actually becoming Spider-Man. And given that the footage revealed that Michael Keaton is playing the villain Vulture in the movie, Holland also discussed his reaction to seeing the character’s tech-based suit and teased what he’s set to shoot this week.
