The Avengers, X-Men and Spider-Man are all Marvel, but that doesn’t mean Marvel Studios, Fox and Sony have to play nice – or play together at all for that matter.  Even though the Deadpool movie was finally officially announced, there has been talk of Marvel Entertainment possibly killing off the character in the comics and, on top of that, the Fantastic Four comic book series might be canceled as well.

However, even though there’s no sign of Marvel warming up to Fox anytime soon, there is a rumor floating around that the studio could join forces with Sony to finally link Spider-Man to the MCU.  Hit the jump for more.

The report comes from HitFix and even though the outlet admits that it can’t confirm the story, perhaps some sort of collaboration between Marvel and Sony is exactly what the Spider-Man film franchise needs.  According to the outlet, there are some “very cool” Spider-Man plans in the works that are aimed at refocusing the franchise and also “opening up some connections in the onscreen Marvel movie universe that would blow fandom's minds.”

Marvel is getting bigger and bigger and bringing more and more heroes into the fold each year, and HitFix notes that Marvel is interested in utilizing “all of their characters.”  I doubt that would happen with anyone Fox owns the rights to anytime soon, but why not bring Spider-Man into the MCU?  Again, none of this has been confirmed, but it does seem like it could be a win-win for both companies.  Sony probably has more to gain considering the Spider-Man series could use a little boost, but it’d also be one heck of a big buzz new addition for a future Marvel movie, too.

What do you think?  Do you want to see Spider-Man in the MCU?
