Spider-Man: Homecoming star Tom Holland certainly appears to be enjoying himself on the set of Marvel and Sony’s highly anticipated reboot, and he’s taking some time to poke fun at one of his fellow MCU co-stars. A few weeks ago, Chris Hemsworth shared a video on Instagram of himself practicing with a Thor: Ragnarok stunt coordinator and then humorously blowing a trampoline jump. Well, the very nimble Holland is on his own Marvel set at the moment, and he’s taken the time to completely show up Hemsworth with a trampoline stunt of his own.
A couple of years ago, I visited the set of Ron Howard’s In the Heart of the Sea, where I got to speak with Holland in the midst of filming. This was a couple of days after Thor: The Dark World had just hit theaters, and Holland was positively giddy about peppering his Heart of the Sea co-star Hemsworth with questions about the Marvel movie. So when word surfaced that Holland was up for the role of Spider-Man, I knew first-hand that the guy was A. Already a big fan of the films and B. Already had a rapport with Thor himself, Chris Hemsworth. While we haven’t yet seen Spidey and Thor interact onscreen, this little Instagram video rivalry shows that Holland and Hemsworth are no doubt still good friends (and good sports), so we wait with bated breath to see the two go toe-to-toe onscreen at some point—probably in Avengers: Infinity War.
In the lead-up to Holland being cast as Spider-Man, the actor was taking to Instagram to show off some of his parkour-esque gymnastics moves, and as evidenced by this new video, he’s certainly capable of performing many of Spider-Man’s stunts himself. Here’s hoping we get a shot or two without the mask so it’s clear that’s really Holland flying through the air.
Enjoy the video below, along with Hemsworth’s prior video, both via Instagram. Directed by Jon Watts, Spider-Man: Homecoming also stars Michael Keaton, Zendaya, Tony Revolori, Bokeem Woodbine, Donald Glover, Marisa Tomei, Robert Downey Jr., and many more. The film opens in theaters on July 7, 2017.
