A new red-band trailer for The Spine of Night reveals why the animated feature is described as an ultraviolent horror/fantasy experience. Filled with blood and broken bones, the new trailer courtesy of RLJE Films also announces The Spine of Night will have a commercial release at the end of this month.

The Spine of Night's trailer shows how people of different ages use a flower as a drug that allows them to cross the barriers of time and space. But, unfortunately, while some people use the flower as part of psychedelic rituals, greedy men also want to harness its power to enslave humanity under their command. That’s why unlikely heroes from different ages will have to band together to fight for freedom, with a lot of gruesome deaths along their way.

The Spine of Night's trailer also shows the unique art style of the animated feature, entirely drawn by hand using rotoscoping technology. That means each frame was drawn over live-action footage recorded by real actors.
