Star Wars Day is off and running, and hot on the heels of this morning’s fantastic looks at new Star Wars: The Force Awakens characters played by Adam Driver and Lupita Nyong’o is another photo that reveals yet another new character: Captain Phasma. Gwendoline Christie, who portrays Brienne of Tarth on Game of Thrones, plays Phasma in the film, who is an officer of the nefarious First Order. This being Star Wars and all we figured there’d be two villains, and it certainly looks as though Christie will be the other main baddie alongside Driver.

Director J.J. Abrams previously revealed that the character of Phasma was originally written to be a man, but after thinking on it they all decided there was no reason the part couldn’t be rewritten as a woman. Christie has done wonderful work on Game of Thrones thus far, and it’s beyond exciting to see that she’ll be a formidable force in this new Star Wars saga.
