Yes, Star Wars 9 is coming to Star Wars Celebration. And yes, that probably means the trailer will debuting within the next month or so. It was announced today that a panel for Star Wars: Episode IX will be held at Star Wars Celebration in Chicago, which runs from April 11th through April 15th. Both director J.J. Abrams and producer Kathleen Kennedy will be in attendance, and the official description says we can count on “plenty of surprises and special guests.”

So yeah, this is probably when/where the first teaser trailer for Star Wars 9 will debut, or at the very least that’s when they’ll be revealing the film's title. They’ve gotta show something, and the timing matches up so that if they do reveal the trailer at that time, it can play in theaters with Disney’s Avengers: Endgame just two weeks later. If they do show the trailer at Star Wars Celebration, expect it to drop online at the same time. There’s no way they’d try to keep something this big in the room and risk a horrible-quality leak landing online as the first-ever footage from the conclusion to the entire Skywalker Saga.

Plot details for Star Wars 9 are indeed under wraps, but the film is described as the end of this new trilogy that began with the Abrams-directed Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Abrams, of course, was not the first director onboard Star Wars 9. That was initially Jurassic World helmer Colin Trevorow, who also worked on an early draft of the script before he was fired off the project in 2017 over creative differences. At that point, Abrams came back to the franchise and co-wrote a new screenplay with Oscar-winning Argo and Batman v Superman screenwriter Chris Terrio.

So yeah, mark that April weekend in your calendars folks, and expect major Star Wars 9 news at that time.
