If you need your Star Wars fix sooner than the December 18th release date of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, then the new videogame Star Wars Battlefront may be just what the medical droid ordered. The long-awaited game hits store shelves on November 17th, but you can currently get a taste of the action in a pre-launch open beta, Electronic Arts' biggest ever. Additionally, a newly released gameplay launch trailer shows off even more footage, from battles in the forests of Endor, to the assault on the Hoth Rebel base, and more.

Of interest in the trailer, beyond just the awesome ability to interact with the world of the movies, is how certain characters make references to events in past stories. I won't spoil any of the surprises here, but a fan-favorite jet pack-wearing bounty hunter is one such example. The other cool part of the gameplay is how legendary characters will occasionally storm the battlefield to help or hinder your team in completing their objective. Leia arrives to spur your team on to victory, Han swoops in at the last second to turn the tide of battle, or Luke shows up with lightsaber aglow. And if it's the Dark Side you prefer, don't worry; your infamous anti-heroes are here as well.
