If you can’t wait to reach the surface of Jakku, the new desert planet featured in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, then you should reach for your nearest next-gen console or PC. EA has released a new Star Wars Battlefront trailer showcasing the “Battle of Jakku”, which takes place 29-years before the events of The Force Awakens, so don’t expect to uncover any major plot revelations. If anything, this just tells us how far the battle reached, and it’s a good reminder that the war engulfed the galaxy, not just Hoth, Endor, or wherever our heroes in the Original Trilogy happened to be.

The good news about the Jakku level is that it’s free and available to everyone on December 8th. The bad news is that it’s available a week earlier to those who pre-order Battlefront, and pre-ordering ultimately hurts consumers. Personally, while I’m waiting the extra week, since I know I’m going to get my ass handed to me anyway no matter how much experience I have fighting on Jakku.
