Few fandoms have the obsessive fervor as Star Wars, which is news to absolutely no one on the Planet Earth. Well, okay, there are parts of the world where people would look at you like you had three horns and Danny Devito on your head if you asked them about Star Wars. Still, there is nothing quite like the franchise that George Lucas and, now, Disney have built, and with Rogue One: A Star Wars Story just a few months away, followed relatively quickly by Episode VIII, adoration for the science fiction juggernaut is at an all-time high in the wake of the success of The Force Awakens.
That’s why Disneyland Resorts have been on a long crusade to get Star Wars Land, their largest ever single-themed expansion, finished and open. They’re still a long way away from that goal, of course, but that hasn’t stopped them from teasing the arrival of the 14-acre (!) experience with concept art and vague chatter about what will be included in this new attraction. And today, they’ve given us a brand new look at what we should expect from the tremendous realm that they’re building, via the Disneyland Parks Blog. You can check out the gorgeous new image right below.
Though I’m not the most rabid of Star Wars fans, I must admit that the idea of walking around inside what is, essentially, a large, living set for a previously unknown Star Wars town is super interesting to me. And if the final product looks like this concept art, which you can zoom in on to reveal all sorts of little details and teases, I might very well be scrapping my vacation plans that year and booking a ticket to Disneyland’s new planet. If there’s a replica of the Millenium Falcon, as this artwork would suggest, I’ll be even more excited to take a stroll amongst all the unfettered commercialism, just to get a gander at where Han and Chewbacca so memorably refer to as “home.”
