Fan trailers are nothing new to the Star Wars franchise. When the feature film series was seemingly complete, it was a way to breathe new life into an existing franchise that meant so much to so many people. But with the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens impending, and with Lucasfilm on a path of releasing a new Star Wars movie every year from here to eternity, fans are about to get plenty of new material to work with when creating fan edits.

One of the most heavily edited pieces of Star Wars lore is, of course, the prequel trilogy. George Lucas’ return to the franchise was a significant letdown for plenty of folks, and there tends to be a mentality of “I can do it better” when it comes to fan-cut versions of those films. I mean, Darth Maul will always look cool, and that podrace scene is visually stunning—if only the films weren’t bogged down by such poor screenwriting and storytelling.

Well, with The Force Awakens having released its third and final trailer a couple of weeks ago, we now have all the (major) marketing materials we’re going to get for J.J. Abrams’ seventh installment in the franchise. And given how expertly cut those trailers have been, a fan (and, full disclosure, one-time Collider contributor) named Max Nicholson saw fit to try and meld the brilliant Force Awakens marketing with footage from the prequel trilogy, resulting in a shockingly great trailer for Episodes I, II and III that almost makes you forget about all the disappointment and despair.

Seriously, the music and style of The Force Awakens trailer melds so perfectly with the story arc for George Lucas’ prequel trilogy that it’s almost eerie, and the decision to focus on the parallel between Obi-Wan and Anakin's arcs is spot-on. And, honestly, this all kind of makes me want to revisit those films soon. So check it out for yourself below, created by Max Nicholson, and sound off in the comments with your thoughts.
