The Disney XD animated series Star Wars Rebels has been a delightful surprise.  I never got into Clone Wars because I didn't see the point of spending more time with prequel characters I didn't like.  But Rebels takes place a few years before Episode IV, and the show is filled with likable characters and smart storytelling.  If you brushed it off because it looked like a cheap, animated cash-in, I highly encourage you to give the show a chance, especially since the mid-season premiere will have a welcome voice.

Hit the jump to watch the new Star Wars Rebels clip, which features the return of Frank Oz as the voice of Yoda, as well as an additional clip and images from the new episode. [minor spoilers ahead]

Check out the Yoda clip below, via Disney, followed by another clip from the same episode:

It's a curious addition to the mythology that Yoda can communicate with Jedi over long distances, although I don't think it contradicts or undermines anything that we've seen in the movies.

But more than Frank Oz's voice, I hope you gather from this clip that Star Wars Rebels is a good show.  This clip isn't resting on a guest voice appearance from Yoda.  The focus of this scene is Kanan (Freddie Prinze Jr.) wrestling with how best to be a Jedi Master and teach an apprentice.  Kanan isn't sure if he's ready for that responsibility.  Star Wars Rebels has done a good job of not leaning too heavily on the original trilogy, so when we hear John Williams' music comes in, that's a big deal.

Star Wars Rebels: "Path of the Jedi" airs Monday, January 4th at 9pm ET/PT on Disney XD.  Check out some images from the episode below.
