Disney XD is really digging into Star Wars Rebels and have officially renewed the series just a little over 24 hours before it premieres tomorrow night with its kick-off movie Star Wars Rebels: Spark of Rebellion on the Disney Channel (not XD) at 9PM. I imagine this development has pretty much been on the table all along and was (wisely) timed as a boost to tomorrow's launch. Not a bad play.
Star Wars Rebels, the series as we will come to know it, premieres on Disney XD October 13th and features the voices of Freddie Prinze Jr., David Oyelowo, Jason Isaacs, Vanessa Marshall, Steve Blum, and Tiya Sircar. Hit the jump for more on Star Wars Rebels Season 2.
Lucasfilm VP of Creative Development Kiri Hart commented on the renewal:
"We all love making 'Rebels,' so we couldn't be happier that it's moving into a second season. Our fantastic creative team is dreaming up new stories for the crew of the Ghost that will expand their experience of the galaxy and deepen their heroes' journeys. The fan response to the show has been amazing, humbling and inspiring. We're looking forward to the adventure ahead."
Are you guys looking forward to this series? Or is the aesthetic divide between the films and this representation creating a gulf in your interest? I'm assuming there are two camps on this.
