Today at Star Wars Celebration, producer Kathleen Kennedy, Lucasfilm's vice president of development Kiri Hart, and director Gareth Edwards unveiled a teaser trailer for the first Star Wars anthology film Star Wars: Rogue One. While the film is still in pre-production and hasn't started shooting yet, the teaser (which is not officially online; we've removed the bootleg embed) features footage created entirely by ILM - including a gorgeous shot of the Death Star looming over the horizon of an unknown planet. Here's a description of the footage:

The teaser opens with narration by Obi Wan from A New Hope describing the time of the Jedi before The Empire as the camera swoops over a heavily forested landscape. The camera then pans up to reveal the massive Death Star looming overhead before cutting to the title, with "Rogue One" in big letters, preceded by a smaller "Star Wars" on top. The final thing we hear is garbled comm audio of people screaming.

Star Wars: Rogue One, starring Felicity Jones as a rebel soldier, centers on a rogue band of resistance fighters who unite to steal the Death Star plans and bring new hope to the galaxy. Edwards also revealed that Rogue One takes place between episodes 3 and 4, in a time when the Jedi is all but extinct and the fate of the galaxy lies in the hands of a group of heroes without magical powers. Star Wars: Rogue One is set to hit theaters in December 2016.

While the teaser trailer was made specifically for Star Wars Celebration and was not intended to go online, the official Star Wars blog did put up a look at the first concept art from Rogue One, which you can check out below.
