About a month ago, we reported that the second Star Wars spin-off film would be focusing on everyone's favorite Mandalorian bounty hunter, Boba Fett. A new rumor supports that previous bit of news and now adds a few interesting tidbits, not the least of which includes a focus on the even more favorite character, Han Solo. This untitled film isn't due out until 2018, so keep all of this news squarely in the rumor bin for the time being.

Schmoes Know reports that the second anthology film will track the conflict between the two less-than-noble characters, a contentious relationship that's merely hinted at in the original trilogy. While Fett's exploits continued after this cinematic time period in lore outside the films, this anthology installment will apparently take place between Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope. That being said, additional rumored characters include Chewbacca, Lando Calrissian, and Bossk, because why not. Since bounty hunters and ne'er-do-wells are at the center of this picture, it's also expected to have a strong Western influence.

As far as just who will be helming this spin-off movie, well that remains to be seen. Josh Trank stepped away from the film about a month ago, but that's the last we heard about the project. Not to worry, the rumor also includes such names as Jon Favreau and Matthew Vaughn circling the project. Favreau is certainly a Disney darling thanks to his time in the Marvel movie-verse, and he's also directing the studio's live-action adaptation of The Jungle Book due out next year. Vaughn seems like a tougher sell, especially due to his flair for R-rated fare and his superheroic responsibilities over at Fox.

While I'm not exactly champing at the bit for an in-depth look at "How Boba Met Han," I'm also not completely resistant to the idea of exploring their relationship a bit more. If this rumor pans out, I'm sure there will be plenty of nods to the mythology present in the existing films, but it actually piques my curiosity concerning the reappearance of the infamous bounty hunter in the Star Wars sequels. A lot of this speculation will start to be answered (or simply reach an insane fever pitch) once Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens awakens December 18, 2015. Let us know your thoughts on a Solo/Fett film in the comments below!
