One of the more enjoyable recurring gags on Saturday Night Live as of late has been the “Auditions” sketch, in which the SNL cast gets a chance to showcase some of their impeccable impressions. Last fall gave us one of the best “Auditions” sketches so far in the form of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but it appears there was even more that we didn’t see at the time. And now, with SNL’s most recent season wrapped, NBC has released some of the auditions that didn’t make it to air, and they are glorious.

Matthew McConaughey (the real Matthew McConaughey) makes a case for him playing Lando Calrissian in hilarious fashion, and other cameos include Star Wars actors Daisy Ridley and John Boyega, as well as Jon Hamm and Emma Stone. The highlight for me, however, is Kyle Mooney’s Shia LaBeouf impression, which is downright tremendous, although Boyega’s take on an “urban” Stormtrooper is pretty terrific as well.

While Ridley and Boyega are currently busy filming Star Wars: Episode VIII, this video is yet another reminder of the fact that J.J. Abrams knocked the casting out of the park for The Force Awakens. Not only are they wonderful performers, but the two seem to be having a blast as part of the Star Wars universe, and it’s nice to see actors who are just as big of fans of the property as those who are eagerly awaiting the release of each new movie.
