I'm a big fan of collecting toys and movie memorabilia, so it's easy to forget that the large majority of the new Star Wars: The Force Awakens merchandise is meant for kids. However, the folks at Hasbro didn't. In celebration of all of their new products, Hasbro hosted a "Global Day of Play" in New York City. Not only were we invited to come by and take some pictures of the new toys, but we were also given the opportunity to bring our families so that we could use the toys for what they're meant for - to play with them!My little cousins had a blast at just about every station, but the biggest hits were definitely the Bladebuilders Lightsabers and the Star Wars Micro Machines, figures like RD-D2 or a small Millennium Falcon that open up and become incredibly detailed playsets with tiny vehicles and characters. Hasbro also showed off their own remote control BB-8, but it's definitely geared more towards younger fans than the Sphero version. You can check out all of my photos of the event and kids actually playing with the new Star Wars toys below:star-wars-global-day-of-play-stormtrooper
