If you're a fan of Steven Spielberg's work and/or 80s classic movies in general, there's a very good chance you're going to enjoy Stranger Things, a new mystery series from Matt and Ross Duffer that's coming to Netflix this July. What was previously introduced as a drama series about the search for a missing boy has now been revealed as something deeper since the search also uncovers a mysterious newcomer, a nefarious laboratory, and clandestine government activity. If you're conjuring images of E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial in your mind, you're on the right track.

A new trailer, and a very Spielberg-friendly poster, are now available for you to enjoy. Like the 80s movies it takes inspiration from, the kids really steal the show in Stranger Things. The adults are there purely to fill out the story and act as either ineffective guardians or amoral villains, but it's the young group of friends and their search for their missing pal that drives the story. We'll see how effective the series is when all eight episodes debut on Netflix July 15th.

Check out the new trailer below, followed by images and a new poster for the upcoming Netflix series:

99 out of a hundred times, the missing kid is with a parent or relative. What about the other time?

A love letter to the supernatural classics of the 80's, Stranger Things is the story of a young boy who vanishes into thin air. As friends, family and local police search for answers, they are drawn into an extraordinary mystery involving top-secret government experiments, terrifying supernatural forces and one very strange little girl.

Stranger Things stars Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Natalia Dyer, Cara Buono, Charlie Heaton, and Matthew Modine.

Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer (Wayward Pines, Hidden) serve as writer, directors and co-showrunners of the series, and are executive producers along with Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen via their 21 Laps entertainment banner (The Spectacular Now, Night At The Museum, Real Steel, Date Night). Shawn Levy also serves as director. Stranger Things is a Netflix original series."
