It was only a matter of time before Saturday Night Live got around to parodying one of the biggest hits of 2016, Netflix’s Stranger Things. While the show offers plenty of material for people to mock, and other comedy programs have taken their shot, SNL seized on how Stranger Things takes an idyllic view of 1980s life that’s free from any racial tension whatsoever even though one of the leads, Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) is black. Enter Leslie Jones and Kenan Thompson to play Lucas’ parents, who don’t need a scary alternate dimension to fear for their child’s safety.

In all honesty, the sketch is fine. It could have gone a little further, but it gets in some good jokes, and it’s worth watching to see Kate McKinnon’s Eleven.

Check out the Stranger Things parody below. Season 2 is scheduled to premiere next year on Netflix.
