‘Suicide Squad’: 23 Hi-Res Images Offer a Colorful Look at Joker, Harley Quinn, and the Whole Gang

     July 12, 2016

The release of Warner Bros.’ Suicide Squad is now less than one month away, and anticipation is certainly high for writer/director David Ayer’s DC Comics adaptation. Following in the footsteps of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Man of Steel, the film offers a unique point of view of the DC Extended Universe as it tells a complete story from the villain perspective. You see, some of the worst of the worst are being held prisoner at Belle Reve, a facility that officially does not exist. But when a threat arises that necessitates people with extraordinary abilities and somewhat of an expendable quality, Viola Davis’ Amanda Waller assembles a villain supergroup to enact highly dangerous missions, albeit under the control of devices installed in their head that’ll go “boom” if they step out of line.

The so-called Suicide Squad is headed up by Joel Kinnaman’s Rick Flagg, who is something of Amanda Waller’s right hand man, and the team includes Deadshot (Will Smith), Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney), Katana (Karen Fukuhara), Diablo (Jay Hernandez), Killer Croc (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje), and Slipknot (Adam Beach). Twists and turns arise as Jared Leto’s Joker throws a wrench into the Squad’s plans, but we follow along as this band of misfits turns the tables and tries out being the heroes for once.

I personally got to visit the Toronto set of Suicide Squad last summer along with a small group of reporters, where I got a closer look at Ayer’s very specific and unique vision being brought to life. But in concert with the release of my full reportage we’d also like to share a large collection of high-resolution Suicide Squad images. Some of these you’ve seen before, some you haven’t, but they’re now all together in one place in glorious hi-res, so go on a take a gander after perusing the links to all of my set visit coverage. Suicide Squad opens in theaters on August 5th.
