With the Stanley Film Festival just a few weeks away (more on that here), we're getting an advance look at one of the films that will be making its debut there. Sun Choke was written and directed by Ben Cresciman and stars Sarah Hagan (Freaks and Geeks) and Barbara Crampton (You're Next, We Are Still Here). The movie comes from Lodger Films and looks like it takes a unique aesthetic approach to the horror genre with its brightly lit frames.

Cresciman told THR "So much of horror takes place in darkness. I bring that kind of story into the sunlight." Check out the Sun Choke trailer below.

Here's the official synopsis for Sun Choke:

Janie’s just trying to get well. As she recovers from a violent psychotic break, she’s subjected each day to a bizarre holistic health and wellness regimen designed, and enforced, by her lifelong nanny and caretaker. But when she develops an obsession with a stranger, Janie’s buried demons begin to surface.

If you've never been to Stanley, I assure you it's a four day heaven on earth for horror fans. Be sure to check it out.
