While most of the big smart decisions to get a lot of press over the last few years have been attributed to the likes of Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon, the decision to push CBS's Supergirl over to the CW would have to rank high up as well. The series built a modest fanbase on CBS but there was an immediate sense of the show not going full-hog on its vast, imaginative source material in the hopes of stretching out the dramatic tension. In hindsight, there could have been no better news to follow the show's move to the CW that Tyler Hoechlin would be appearing regularly on the second season of the series as Clark Kent and Superman. It was a nod to the show's intentions to pull out all the stops in its next run of episodes.

The latest promo for the show, which hits the CW starting on October 10th, doesn't give us much of a sense of the adversaries or even the new colleagues that Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) and Superman will meet. What it does do is build up the anticipation of watching these two heroes finally match-up and work together in a visual format outside of the source material. Even in the rightly derided Supergirl movie, the titular heroine never met Clark Kent or Superman, but rather hung around with Lois Lane's relatives and Jimmy Olson. For the sake of seeing this team-up really take flight, Supergirl has quickly justified a second chance after its first season on CBS creatively plateaued around the halfway mark.
