With all of the superhero projects in various stages of development in film and television it might appear hard an overwhelming to keep up with the biggest news that drop, and if you don’t have the time to check Collider regularly to find the superhero news you’re looking for, don’t worry because we round it all up in one place for you. While we wait for the next superhero movie to hit theaters and the next superhero TV series to air, it’s definitely important to stay up-to-date with the biggest news and keep the conversation going. This week, we found out who might be playing Mary Jane Watson in Spider-Man: Homecoming, we got a tease of Superman’s black suit from Justice League, we got some old-school Batman with a teaser for Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders, we learned Teddy Sears could return to The Flash, we saw new Doctor Strange images, and more. See what you missed below.

‘Justice League’: Black Superman Suit Teased By Henry Cavill

It’s not much of a spoiler at this point that Batman v Superman took some beats from the iconic The Death of Superman story arc from the comics by killing Superman (Henry Cavill), and even less of a spoiler is the fact that Superman won’t remain dead, so when we see him return in Justice League it looks like the film will also borrow the black Superman suit from the comics. The black Superman suit was teased in an Instagram post from Cavill, hinting that like in the comics, we will see Superman rise from the dead with that all black look in Justice League. More than the look, I’m interested to see how the entire arc of Superman’s death and eventual resurrection will play out in a film that revolves around the formation of the Justice League to deal with a pretty big threat.

‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’: Zendaya Reportedly Playing Mary Jane Watson

As far as Spider-Man’s love interests goes, a pretty big one had been absent in the most recent version of the character on the big screen, that character being Mary Jane Watson, but we might see her return when Spider-Man: Homecoming hits theaters played by Zendaya. The Disney Channel star had reportedly been cast as character named Michelle, which could’ve been based on a Michele Gonzales, a character who in the comics becomes Peter Parker’s roommate and love interest. But new reports are indicating that Zendaya will play none other than Peter’s long-time love interest Mary Jane Watson. It’ll be interesting to see what the young actress brings to such a key role in the Spider-Man mythos, and how the relationship with Tom Holland’s Peter Parker is explored.

If you want a little more Spider-Man: Homecoming, there was also a promo poster for the film that dropped online. Just a little taste of this new Spider-Man before the official marketing campaign for the movie begins.

‘Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders’: First Trailer for the Animated Film

If you’re one of the people that are somewhat bothered by how serious and dark superhero movies have gotten (DC in particular), then you will be happy with the release of the Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders trailer, giving a throwback to that classic campy 60s Batman. Because it wouldn’t be 60s Batman without them, this animated film reunites Adam West and Burt Ward as Batman and Robin, and includes Julie Newmar as Catwoman, with appearances from Joker, the Riddler, and Penguin. As evidenced by the trailer, not only the voices will come from the classic 60s series, the entire look and feel of the film appears to be pulled right form the show, a much welcome fun, witty, and colorful side to the character that hasn’t been seen in a while.

‘The Flash’: Teddy Sears to Return as Black Flash

Teddy Sears’ run as the villain Zoom in The Flash Season 2 came to an end as he suffered an interesting transformation and was taken by Time Wraiths, but it seems we have not seen the last of Teddy Sears in the show and he could return as Black Flash. In a recent interview, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg spoke of the possible return of Sears as Black Flash, saying that the end transformation of the character into Black Flash was done “on purpose.” Kreisberg did go on to say that there weren’t immediate plans for Black Flash, but to expect to see him in the future.

‘Doctor Strange’: New Hi-Res Images Released

The next time we will see a superhero on the big screen will be when Scott Derrickson’s Doctor Strange hits theaters this November, and while we wait to see the world-bending magic that has been teased up to this point, we got new high-resolution images to wet our appetite. These images give us great looks at some of the characters, the magic, the settings, and a couple of more shots of those world-collapsing visuals. I think Doctor Strange has done a great job in teasing how it will be bringing something entirely different into the MCU with the mystical aspect, and that’s what I’m the most curious about seeing.

Marvel’s ‘Runaways’ Heading to Hulu

Some years ago Marvel was looking to turn their comic series Runaways into a film, and while those plans were put on hold the project has now come back to life and will be turned into a series instead. Marvel has recently announced that Runaways will be adapted as a series coming to Hulu, with Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage (Gossip Girl) acting as showrunners. For those unfamiliar with the material, Runaways revolves around a group of diverse teenagers who discover that their parents are supervillains and decide to runaway together. A big complain about the superhero genre across movies and television is that we might be seeing the same things over and over, so something key is to keep introducing new kinds of stories that keeps everything fresh, and to me that’s what Runaways sounds like.
