Last week I was invited to the Supernatural set in Vancouver, and was able to see of the places the Winchesters call home up close and personal (they even let us get in Baby’s driver seat … chils!) The sets included the gorgeous Men of Letters bunker, the boys’ bedrooms (which are surprisingly tiny — there’s no way they can fit on those short beds!) as well as the kitchen and much more, all of which gave a lot of insight into the show’s characters, and the thoughtfulness of the production design.
There were little details like the mini-fridge Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) brought to the Men of Letters bunker (their personal touch), as well as funny behind-the-scenes things like the book collections being fake (though not all are — the individual books are real, but the large sets are props) also a (gasp!) television set that comes into play in “Baby.” Speaking of props, we got a chance to visit the prop room and see a lot of super creepy things, as well as a selection of the weapons and the huge (seriously, enormous) wardrobe warehouse.
Some of the cast members (Padalecki, Ackles, Mark Sheppard, Ruth Connell, and Mischa Collins) also took some time to chat with us about the show, and that interview will post later. For now, check out these photos from the sets, and enjoy the Impala’s episode, “Baby.” It’s seriously excellent.
Supernatural airs Wednesday nights on the CW.
