In early 2020, Sweet Magnolias introduced us to a trio of childhood friends trying to figure out life as they navigate adulthood in South Carolina. Season 1 was popular and left viewers on a cliffhanger that, thanks to COVID, will only get resolved in 2022. But the good news is: Netflix has set a date to finally give the answer that may change the series’ course: was Tyler (Carson Rowland) involved in the Season 1 finale car accident or not?

The question will be answered on February 4, the date on which Season 2 of Sweet Magnolias premieres. Netflix has commissioned 10 more hour-long episodes and revealed some first-look images for the new season, which will once again follow best friends Maddie (JoAnna Garcia Swisher), Helen (Heather Headley), and Dana Sue (Brooke Elliot) in the small town of Serenity where it is hard to keep a secret since everyone knows everyone.

More than finding out who’s in the car, though, Netflix teases that Season 2 of Sweet Magnolias has more than just one surprise in store for the series’ fans, as Prom Night’s events are set to reshape the town’s entire system of relationships, damage friendships and even collapse the very structure of Serenity – if you live(d) in a small town, you know exactly how this is possible.

Sweet Magnolias is based on the best-selling novel series by author Sherryl Woods, which currently sits at 11 volumes – the last one being published in 2014. The TV series was adapted for television by showrunner Sheryl J. Anderson, who has also helmed Charmed and Canadian series Ties That Bind.

Aside from the trio of leading actors, Sweet Magnolias also features Chris Klein, Jamie Lynn Spears, Justin Bruening, Logan Allen, Anneliese Judge, Brandon Quinn, and Dion Johnstone.

Netflix premieres Season 2 of Sweet Magnolias on February 4, 2022. As usual with the streamer, all episodes will become available at once.
