Ladies and gentlemen! In the blue corner we have the Italian Stallion, Mr. Expendable himself, Sylvester "Rocky" Stallone.  And in the red corner, the Greatest of All Time, the Godfather, the Taxi Driver, the Raging Bull, Robert De Niro!  Warner Bros. has officially greenlit the Peter Segal (Tommy Boy) picture, Grudge Match.  The film follows two retired fighters who put on the gloves for one last bout.  With the most recent draft turned in by Doug Ellin (Entourage), the studio has given this one the go-ahead.  Hit the jump for more on Grudge Match.

Deadline reports that Grudge Match is a go.  Few details are available as to the film's plot, but looking at the pedigree of Segal and Ellin, it's bound to be less of an aging athlete sports drama (ie The Wrestler) and more of an aging athlete sports comedy.  In support of that stance is the addition of Kevin Hart (The 40 Year Old Virgin) as the titular match's fight promoter who gets both brawlers back in the ring.  Vegas odds are already 5:1 for Stallone, but De Niro (who is only three years Stallone's senior) might have some tricks up his sleeve.  Check out the (theatrical) fighters in their prime below:

I cannot wait to see the promotional images for this film.  Raging Bull vs Rocky: The Greatest Match of All Time! (Hit the weights, De Niro.  Stallone is man-sized.)
