Sylvester Stallone Rambo movie image - slice (1).jpg

As you may know by now Sylvester Stallone is currently in pre-production on "Rambo 5" - yet another blood-soaked chapter in the life of Vietnam-vet turned soldier-of-fortune, John Rambo.  What you may not know is how Stallone plans to make Rambo's latest onscreen mission different from all of his previous outings.  Though we reported last week that "Rambo 5" would feature Stallone interfacing with Mexican drug lords on the US border, according to the man himself, this is not the case.  Find out where Rambo's really headed after the jump.

Harry over at AICN got a chance to speak with Sylvester Stallone - the writer, director and star of Rambo - earlier today and Sly told him that the early synopsis of "Rambo 5" that has been floating around the internet is erroneous.  John Rambo will NOT be on the American border rescuing attractive women from blood-thirsty sex traffickers and drug fiends.  Nope.  He will still be on American soil but that soil will be set in the Pacific Northwest.

Here is how Harry summed up what Sly told him about the plot:

-

"It seems that somewhere in that area there is a U.S. Military installation that is doing experiments on elite soldiers as part of some sort of program where they're attempting to tap into that SAVAGERY that we have deeply embedded into us. The plan is create brilliantly instinctual killer soldiers that have no qualms about taking life."

-

Naturally the plan doesn't go so well (check your comic book collection for ways this government project could backfire) and Rambo is called upon, along with an elite squad of black-ops warriors, to hunt down and kill the super soldiers.

Sly compared the soldiers Rambo will face in part five to history's "The Immortals", an elite corps of Persian soldiers that participated in the battle of Thermopylae.  You may remember them from the film "300".

Oh, and he also revealed that "Rambo 5" now carries the subtitle "The Savage Hunt."

An early one sheet can be seen below.
