Summary

A truly historic show in terms of its bawdy content, irreverent tone, and hilariously mithanthropic characters, Married... with Children began in 1987 and would go on to become Fox's longest-running live-action sitcom. It starred Ed O'Neil as Al Bundy, a former high school football star toiling away as a deadend salesman for women's shoes. Joined by parasitic wife Peggy and son and daughter Bud and Kelly, Married... With Children would prove popular in its timeslot, though difficulties airing nationwide limited its audience and reach. The show's risque raunchiness and jokes led to infamous boycotts and controversy, especially among conservative viewers.
