Paramount has just debuted the teaser trailer and a new poster for the fourth and (supposedly) final Shrek film, Shrek Forever After.  Both the teaser and poster emphasize that this is the FINAL CHAPTER, but like so many classic rock bands, the farewell tour is usually just a prelude to a reunion tour.  Of course, there's still the spin-off Puss in Boots on the way, but I would be in no way surprised if there's a fifth Shrek in five to seven years.

For those wondering what kind of crazy mischief Shrek's found himself in this time around, Shrek Forever After is a It's a Wonderful Life-tale where Shrek makes a deal with Rumpelstiltskin to get his ogre mojo back but instead sees what Far, Far Away would be like if he'd never existed.  This means Fiona's hunted as an ogre, Donkey's stuck pulling a cart, Puss is fat and lazy, and Rumpelstiltskin is now ruling the kingdom.  Shrek, armed only with his sardonic wit and Scottish accent, must find a way to set things right.

Hit the jump to check out the trailer and the poster.  Shrek Forever After hits theaters in 3D and IMAX 3D on May 21st.
