Developed by Jeff Davis, the hit MTV drama series Teen Wolf has returned for a super-sized, 24-episode third season.  Having picked up four months after the events that nearly ended Jackson’s (Colton Haynes) life and resurrected Peter Hale (Ian Bohen), Season 3 finds teen werewolf Scott McCall (Tyler Posey) and his friends Stiles (Dylan O’Brien), Lydia (Holland Roden) and Allison (Crystal Reed) beginning their junior year of high school while having to deal with a new threat has arrived in Beacon Hills – a deadly pack of Alpha werewolves intent on bringing Derek (Tyler Hoechlin) into their fold.

With the filming relocated to Los Angeles, Collider was invited to check out the set and chat with the cast for a series of exclusive interviews.  While hanging out in his trailer on a break from shooting, actor Brian Patrick Wade (who plays the Alpha pack muscle, Ennis) talked about how much fun it is to be the intimidator, what his family thinks of him as a werewolf, working with the contacts and teeth, what the first day on set was like, and that Episode 308 will be a great flashback episode for how the Alpha pack got together.        Check out what he had to say after the jump, and be aware that there are some spoilers.

Collider:  What can you say about who Ennis is?

BRIAN PATRICK WADE:  It’s funny, he doesn’t say a whole lot.  I think I’m the presence of the Alpha pack.  I’m the heavy.  In the Alpha pack, I’m Deucalion’s (Gideon Emery) brute force.  I’m the intimidator.

Is that fun?

WADE:  Yeah!  I’d never done a part with prosthetics before, so the first time I had the full wolf make-up on – it’s three different pieces on my face, and then the contacts and the fangs – I realized that it’s literally the easiest acting that I’ve ever done.  The way that they’ve created my face with these prosthetic pieces is just unbelievable.  It makes the job really fun and really easy.  With my size and the whole face thing, it’s really cool.  It’s a lot of fun to play this guy, for sure.  If you look at Scott (Tyler Posey) or Derek (Tyler Hoechlin), their make-up is pretty intimidating, but they made the Alpha pack, and especially mine, really intimidating, angry and mean without a soul in there.

What does your family think about you as a werewolf?

WADE:  It’s funny because the first time I had it on, my wife and kids came to the set.  My wife had just picked up my kids from school, and they were in the trailer.  My son was doing his homework and I texted my wife to say, “Babe, just warn them because it’s freaky.”  And she had never seen it either.  So, I got out of the make-up trailer and went and knocked on the door.  I had my contacts in and fangs, and everything.  I opened the door and my son turned around, and he freaked out.  He’s nine, and I felt terrible.  But, it was fun.

Is it easy to navigate with the contacts?

WADE:  Yeah, they don’t block my vision, at all.  They’re really red and big.  You don’t even see the whites of my eyes.  They cover everything.  Peripheral vision is a little blurry, if I look off to the side, but straight on is fine.

Is it weird to talk with the teeth in?

WADE:  I sound a little slurry, like a mean drunk werewolf.  But, they make them pretty good, so that you can get out most of your words pretty normally.  These fangs are good.  They’re full mouth pieces, top and bottom.  They actually click in and they fit really well.  I can close my mouth with them.  I could probably chew gum with them in, if it wouldn’t pull them out like dentures.  I don’t think I talk too terrible with them.

Had you been familiar with the show prior to being cast, or did you catch up on it?

WADE:  I had to do some catch up.  I knew that the show was out here.  Just from being an actor in Hollywood, I knew that the show was going on, and that it was loosely based on the movie from way back when.  And then, once I got the job, I caught up on Netflix.  I was really surprised at how much I liked it and how really well done it is.  No wonder they’ve been picked up for 24 episodes.  I think it’s really good.  And the group of actors that lead the show are unbelievable.  Tyler [Posey] is really great. [Tyler] Hoechlin is really great.  Everyone is really good at what they do.

What was your first day on set like?

WADE:  Our first day on set was a giant epic fight scene, before I was ever introduced.  We definitely go thrown right into it.  All of the fight scenes this season are bigger, a lot more fun, and a lot more involved.  All of the stuff that I’ve done has just been awesome.  It’s been a lot of fun to do.

Is there an explanation for why these Alpha pack members are together?

WADE:  Yes, there is an explanation for that.  Deucalion is the leader of this Alpha pack, and he’s very convincing.  We’re all Alphas, so to be an Alpha pack, we had to kill our own pack.  In doing that, you gain all of your Beta wolves’ strength and power.  It’s a master plan to bring an Alpha pack together to rule the city and everything that’s in it.  We’re just a force to be reckoned with in Beacon Hills.

Will there be some flashbacks for your character?

WADE:  Yes, a lot of that will be flushed out in Episode 308.  It’s going to be an awesome episode because it’s in present time, but more than half the episode is all flashbacks of when Derek is 15, and it shows us younger, before we’re Alphas.  You’ll see how we all got together, and how Deucalion came into the mix and created this pack.  That episode is going to specifically address how we all got together.

Does the fact that you’re all Alphas create a lot of tension in the pack?

WADE:  As it’s written right now, no, we’re all doing really well.  But in any group, where it’s all strong personalities, at some point, something is going to break.  I think there probably will be tension, as the show goes on and the storyline develops.  How could there not?  We’re all leaders.  So, it will be interesting to see what happens, for sure.

Teen Wolf airs on Monday nights on MTV.
