It’s no secret that Krang, the alien warlord from Dimension X, will be appearing in Dave Green’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows along with his robotic exo-suit and powerful battle station, the Technodrome, but what’s remained unconfirmed is just who will voice the villainous creature. It was previously reported that Fred Armisen of Saturday Night Live and Portlandia fame would be lending his voice to the movie’s antagonist, but now we’re hearing a new name for the role instead. And it’s somehow even stranger.
The LA Times reports that Brad Garrett, the deep-voiced Emmy winner known for Everybody Loves Raymond will actually be voicing the diminutive Krang. Assuming Garrett keeps his low, rumbling delivery for the character, we’ll likely heard some quips from the title heroes about how his voice doesn’t quite match his stature. Then again, maybe Garrett’s signature sound will be coming out of Krang’s imposing exo-suit instead; time will tell.
Garrett has previously voiced animated characters in Finding Nemo and Ratatouille to name just a couple, so that could give us an idea of what his version of Krang will actually sound like. To find out for sure, we’ll have to wait until Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, also starring Megan Fox, Will Arnett, Stephen Amell, Alan Ritchson, Noel Fisher, Pete Ploszek, Jeremy Howard, Tyler Perry, Brian Tee, Laura Linney, Sheamus, and Gary Anthony Williams, opens on June 3rd.
Here’s the official synopsis for TMNT:OotS:
Michelangelo, Donatello, Leonardo, and Raphael return to cinemas this summer to battle bigger, badder villains, alongside April O’Neil (Megan Fox), Vern Fenwick (Will Arnett), and a newcomer: the hockey-masked vigilante Casey Jones (Stephen Amell). After supervillain Shredder escapes custody, he joins forces with mad scientist Baxter Stockman (Tyler Perry) and two dimwitted henchmen, Bebop (Gary Anthony Williams) and Rocksteady (WWE Superstar Stephen “Sheamus” Farrelly), to unleash a diabolical plan to take over the world. As the Turtles prepare to take on Shredder and his new crew, they find themselves facing an even greater evil with similar intentions: the notorious Krang.
