Following the recent release date push, Tim Miller’s Terminator sequel is continuing to cast up and the latest additions are the big ones. Per Deadline, Miller has found his new Terminator and his new lead. Matador and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. star Gabriel Luna, who played Ghost Rider in the ABC Marvel series, will fill some Schwarzenneger-sized shoes and take on the role of the new Terminator for the film. Starring opposite him is Colombian actress Natalia Reyes, who THR reports has landed the lead role in the reboot.

Per the report, Reyes will play a character by the name of Dani, “a young woman from a working class neighborhood in Mexico City who finds herself in the battle between humans and machines.” Scream Queens star Diego Boneta has also been added to the cast as Dani’s brother. The newcomers join returning franchise OGs Linda Hamilton and Arnold Schwarzenneger, who are set to reprise their iconic roles and reunite for the first time since 1991’s Terminator 2: Judgment Day, but THR notes that sources say their roles are relatively brief. Halt and Catch Fire star Mackenzie Davis is also set to star in the film as a soldier-assassin from the future.

The Skydance production unites the Deadpool director with producer and franchise creator James Cameron, who are said to have underwent an extensive search to find a Latina actress and a “discovery” on par with the breakout turn for Hamilton in the original Terminator film. After a few close calls, they extended the search to central and South America with seven actresses selected for screen tests. That’s where they found Reyes, who has appeared in Colombian children’s programs and the Spanish-language series Lady, La Vendedora de Rosas. She also stars in Petter Webber’s Netflix original movie Pickpockets and Ciro Guerra’s Birds of Passage.

The new Terminator movie is scheduled to arrive in theaters on November 22, 2019.
