The Terminator Genisys marketing machine has kicked into overdrive with Paramount releasing new featurettes, a clip, and new TV spots for the upcoming film. In the latest installment in the franchise, Terminators are once again sent back to kill Sarah Connor (Emilia Clarke) with Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney) coming to the past to protect her, but there are some new twists. One of the killer Terminators sports a familiar face, and one of Sarah’s protectors has been at the job for a while.

My interest is really piqued at this point, which I didn’t think would be the case six months ago. At the very least, it looks like everyone is trying really hard to do something new with the franchise while keeping its soul—Arnold Schwarzenegger—a vital part of the proceedings. Or it could just be a mashup of the best parts—hero Terminator, badass Sarah Connor, and a more dangerous terminator—twisted into an odd reboot of the series. Hopefully, it works.
